I’ve been impressed but not surprised by any of OpenAI’s announcements so far during its 12-day extravaganza.
But we’re only a third of the dozen announcements expected between now and December 20.
Sora dropping on day threeis probably the biggest of all the announcements so far.
It makes OpenAI a new major player in the AI video space.
Then, yesterday we got ChatGPT Canvas for all users and part of the main model.
This adds a code editor and text editor to OpenAI’s already extensive product toolkit.
There are still eight announcements to go and with so much to cover we’re doing it live.
These include accessing Visual Intelligence to read images, organizing information into lists and more.
Through Dec. 20 there will be more, but some of them will be bigger than others.
Hands on with ChatGPT Canvas
OpenAIjust officially launchedCanvas,and I couldnt wait to try it.
The latest from OpenAI brings a new level of interactivity and collaboration toChatGPT.
By opening a dedicated workspace, I was able to start a draft on the page or upload text.
From there, I could edit and refine text or code in real-time.
Users can either start their project directly in Canvas or transition from a chat conversation by typing use Canvas.
It’s elevated the way I outline, brainstorm and edit.
OpenAI making the feature free to everyone is just the icing on the AI cake.

We may even get other ChatGPT upgrades (better image generation would be nice).
This also includes the ability to generate videos of people, something not available with ChatGPT Plus.
But dedicated Sora plans are coming next year.

So, where do the rumors come from?
OpenAI has not been shy at dropping hints like this in the past.
It offered a “limited preview of GPT-4.5” as a Team plan perk.
This has since been removed.
Whatever happens, we will find out for sure at 1pm ET.

The demo shows the Siri interface but with a ChatGPT icon in the prompt bar.
However there are limitations, so the deep integration between ChatGPT and Siri fills in the gaps.
