Over the years Ive found that my interest in new consoles has waned quite considerably.
But Im finding that theNintendo Switch 2is another matter entirely.
Which is crazy to think about considering that was only two console generations ago.
But it could also be because subsequent console reveals have been pretty crappy.
Fast forward to the launch of theXbox Series XandPS5in 2020, and they just kinda passed me by.
If anything theconstant supply issueswere the most interesting thing about both machines at the time.
Needless to say the Xbox One launch was even more disappointing as a result.
As for the originalNintendo Switch, I was certainly intrigued by what Nintendo had to offer.
Fast forward to now, and its the only console I play with any regularity.
The Switch changed all that.
There was only so much Christmas TV and family socialising I can stand before I stand to go crazy.
When its not recharging my handheld, my Switch dock is apparently only good for gathering dust.
And thats why Im so eager to get my hands on the Switch 2.
Because it sounds like well be getting more of the same.
Design leaks weve seen suggest that the Switch 2 wont be changing that experience very much.
Which is exactly what I wanted from Nintendos follow-up.
There are so many ways Nintendo could have messed up the Switchs successor.
Itll certainly be enough to get me buying the machine pretty quickly.
Thats rumored to be happening at some unspecified point in Q1 of 2025.
Though I suspect that they will be present, because Nintendos gonna Nintendo.
Better graphics, frame rate and all those other things will just be a nice bonus.
