Updated to include info on the newLGC5 OLED TV with prices and specs.
A new year brings a new LG C Series OLED TV.
For all of its praise, the C4 proved divisive.
Even so, there’s still a lot to unpack when comparing the LG C5 to the LG C4.
It’s also one of the few OLED TVs that can natively accept a 144Hz input from a PC.
Disappointingly, the LG C5 also lacks anATSC 3.0 tuner.
LG is finally slimming down its design and making it look similar to Samsung’s offering.
One thing it excels in is 4K upscaling, which owes largely to its improved processor.
This is disappointing, since everything else about the C4 OLED made it one of thebest gaming TVsin 2024.
I would’ve liked to have seen LG go the extra mile with its mid-range OLED.
As it stands, folks who use the LG C5 as a PC monitor will be locked at 4K/144Hz.
The C4 is a supremely accurate TV right out of the box.
And the new C Series only makes this better by dropping the Delta-E down to 1.2.
However, it’s just too little of a massive leap in my eyes.
LG’s pricing definitely lends credence to this, matching up with last year’s launch MSRP.
Given the lack of upgrades on paper, I’m glad LG brought the price down.
