We’ve heard rumors of new Apple iPhone models that never materialized remember the iPhone 16 Ultra, anyone?
but rumors of a slimmeriPhone 17model have been pretty persistent.

And it would certainly be keeping with Apple’s move lately toward skinny MacBooks and iPads.
And we have a few items on our iPhone 17 Air wishlist to share, too.
Andrumors that the iPhone 17 Air entered the first stages of production in December 2024seem to support this.

So that would make the iPhone 17 Air something of a replacement for the Plus-sized iPhone.
At least one recent leak suggeststhe iPhone 17 Air could be 5.5mm at its thinnest point.
“Apple will round that to 5.6 mm thin, but the exact measurements are 5.64mm.

The screen is 6.7 inches exactly,” explained Prosser on theRecycle Bin podcast.
The technology integrates the touch and display layers of a screen, making the overall panel slimmer.
If true, it could make it very hard for Apple to get the gadget much thinner than 6.6mm.
Stacked up against the Pro Max model, the rumored Air equipment looks a lot more slender.
The OLED panel will reportedlysupport the 120Hz ProMotion tech that Apple has previously reserved for its Pro handsets.
Majin Bu has since posted images of 3D-printed models to illustrate this more clearly.
That would suggest modest performance gains are on tap.
Other current iPhone 17 Air specs rumors apply to the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
For instance, the phones coming out in fall 2025 are tipped to get anApple-made Wi-Fi chip.
So how does Apple top the competition with an iPhone 17 Air?
Any step back would run counter to the battery life gains Apple made with the iPhone 16 lineup.
Were hoping that the iPhone 17 Air can still produce great photos, especially in low-light conditions.. That’s not going to cut it for a phone with a premium price tag.
That leaves plenty of time for more rumors to emerge.
