What is the purpose of avirtual assistant?
I’ve used an iPhone for a long time, so I’m familiar withSiri.
Originally introduced as with the iPhone 4s, Siri aims to be the perfect virtual assistant.
A few months ago I had to drive from London to Manchester about a 4-hour drive.
Siri lets me do all that just with voice commands.
However, it’s not a perfect solution.
Siri has issues recognizing the names of certain people or songs.
All of this is great, and occasional issue aside, it’s still perfectly usable.
So why don’t I use Siri in other situations?
Out of the car, it’s the opposite.
However, if I ask Siri, then it will simply askChatGPT something I can already do.
So why not just cut out the middle man?
I will admit that Apple has seemingly solved some of this, but there are others instances.
I live in the U.K., and when I asked Siri, “Who is the president.”
Siri’s response: Keir Starmer.
Right leader, wrong title.
And I’ve also had issues with Siri using my search engine of choice.
(I’ve selectedGoogle; Siri seems to want to default toBing.)
How about having it perform tasks for me?
And you could be forgiven if you’re wondering if there will ever be a solution.
Siri outlook
More clarity on the status of Siri’s overhaul would help.
Perhaps the likely iOS 19 preview atWWDC 2025in June will bring some clarity.
Ironically, some of Siri’s competitors have the exact opposite issue.
