This Sunday saw many users taking to ther/googlehomesubreddit to complain that their2nd generation ChromecastandChromecast Audiodevices weren’t working.
It’s also been made clear that the issue isn’tGoogle TV, but with the actual equipment.
Affected users are instructed to head tosupport.google.com/chromecastfor help troubleshooting the issue.
This could be brought on by outdated rig firmware.
So far Google hasn’t commented on what caused the fault.
However, it seems to only affect older devices, with the newerChromecast 3rd GenandChromecast Ultraworking as intended.

That post was posted a across a number of Chromecast focused subreddits several hours ago.
Google has not yet released a fix or posted an update since that initial comment.
The current consensus is that this is more likely an issue with the verification firmware.
In that case, it will require a server-side fix.
That unfortunately means that there’s little users can do at this point other than wait.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any word from Google about a possible solution in the works.
